Thus, the author considers that the translation of this report will not only be helpful for related Chinese professionals to know about the situation of rural areas in the United States, especially the construction of rural communities there, but may also enlighten the construction of "new countryside" and the development of agricultural economy in China.The original text is a government report on the development of agricultural economy jointly released by three American organizations. It belongs to an informative text according to Newmark’s text type theory. Thus, in selecting translation strategies, the translator selected communicative theory to guide the translation, as advocated by Newmark.In translating the aforementioned report based on theory about communicative translation, the greatest difficulty encountered by the translator was the appearance of many long sentences, represented by attributive clauses. Hence, this translation report shall focus on illustrating the methods for translating attributive clauses.
