Combining theories and practice is the requirement of the Master of Translation and Interpreting. This essay is presented as a report on the interpreting practice which is based on the author’s experience of interpreting. The writer took her interpreting practice in the International Conference of Chinese Association of Mathematics Education in 2014(ICCAME-2014), and the task was to offer the interpreting to Professor Frederick Leung who participated this conference. In the report, the author analyzes the problems and difficulties that occurred in the process of interpreting in task combining with two important theories of interpreting: deverbalization and cognitive psychology of interpreting. Through the case analysis, the author introduces how to facilitate these two theories in interpreting practice as well as the common strategies of interpreting: addition and subtraction. The problems and difficulties that appeared in the interpreting practice are explained and analyzed in this report, and the author tries to give the solutions to the problems. By this interpreting practice report, the author hopes to improve her own interpreting ability.This practice report is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction, which includes the background, objectives and significance of the task. The second part is the task description. The third part is interpreting process, in which the author describes the interpreting process from three aspects: before interpreting, while interpreting and after interpreting. The fourth part is the case analysis, which offers analysis on the problems that appears during interpreting and also the theories and interpreting strategies.The last part is a conclusion.
