The Measurement And Study Of The Meaning Of Life & Suicidal Ideation

Currently, suicide has been a major public health problem which the world face.The causes of suicide are many and varied, but the main reason for suicide is certainly not aware of the reason of existence, and can not find the meaning of life.Based on the positive psychology, this study concerned about the personality development of the individual. With the classic test theory and item response theory as its theoretical basis, this thesis test the reliability and validity of the Meaning in Life Questionnaire and Scale for Suicide Ideation.(1) The Meaning in Life Questionnaire has good reliability index. However, confirmatory factor analysis showed that the validity of The Meaning in Life Questionnaire needs further revision. Since the modified indicators of the questionnaire of the meaning in college student’s life achieve an acceptable range, it can be used as a measuring tool.(2) The study of reliability and validity of Scale for Suicide Ideation showed that this scale not only has good reliability indices, but also has good validity index. It can be used as an official scale.(3) Research on the relationship between the meaning of life and suicide ideation showed that they have a significantly positive correlation.
