This report will mainly discuss the dynamic equivalence by analyzing the cases in translating the book An Introduction to Yoga. The first part briefly describes the translation task including the background and the nature of the task. The second part will is the description of the translation process including the preparation before translation and the issues after translation. The third part focuses on analyzing the cases including the classification of the problems, reflections on the translation theory of dynamic equivalence, the ways to deal with the problems and the tentative conclusions. The final part is the conclusion of the translation report, including the unsettled problems and some related reflections. In one word, this report is a analysis and conclusion of the An Introduction to Yoga, how to choose appropriate translation skills and realize the dynamic equivalence. After analyzing the text, the main problems in translating include the glossary vacancy, the difference of the speaking voice and sentence structure, the technical terms and the cohesion. In this report I try to use different translating skills such liberal translation, literal translation with notes, reconstructuring and amplification to deal with these problems in order to realize the dynamic equivalence.
