International Chinese education is flourishing recently. Teaching Chinese overseas is an important part of it. We know, all the studies should suit to the local conditions and have a clear target. The Chinese language teaching in Lithuania carried out more than ten years. It has made rapid development with the support of Confucius Institute. However, survey and theoretical research on Chinese language teaching in Lithuania are still blank. This paper aims to master a large number of first-hand information on teaching practice. On the basis of statistical and theoretical analysis, it will offer feasible plan. Through this investigation on Chinese language teaching in Lithuania, we hope to make small contribution to the International Chinese education.First, through consulting lots of reference and investigation, we introduce the history and the current situation of Chinese teaching in Lithuania. We focus on the educational institutions, teachers, the learners, the curriculum and teaching materials.Then through questionnaires, e-mails and observation, we investigate the situation of the students. All the data statistics related to the learners’ basic information, the reason of learning Chinese, the comprehension degree of China, the attitude of the teaching materials, requirements for teachers, learning and re-learning difficulties. Collecting and analyzing those data, we could find the reason and the rule to explain the phenomenon.Finally, according to these difficulties and problems, we will promote the construction and reform of the curriculum, strengthen the selection and training of the teachers, focus on the development and improvement of teaching materials and conduct campus activities and interscholastic cooperation. We hope Chinese education in Lithuania will develop rapidly.
