Meishan paper-cut is an important carrier for Meishan culture, carrying plenty historical cultural information of Meishan area. The fusion of religion, geography and history has formed a unique folk culture of Meishan area and it has also created the the unique aesthetic connotation and graphical interpretation style of Meishan paper-cut, further strengthened the study on the aesthetic generation rules of Meishan paper-cut, and systematically analyze the graphical features and interpretation style of Meishan paper-cut. This thesis can not only explores the aesthetic elements and outstanding ethnic elements of Meishan paper-cut, but also can enrich the visual language of modern graphic design, promote the diversified development of artistic design. This thesis is of great important research value.Based on the perspective of design aesthetics, this paper follows the theory analysis and the research context of application design and focuses on the two basic problems in aesthetic connotation and the innovative design in graphic interpretation of Meishan paper-cut. The author has adoptedfield survey methods, based on the analysis object of oral information and graphic information obtained in fieldwork,summarized the existing Meishan paper-cut style. Based on the systematic exploration of the impact of Meishan wu nuo culture,marriage funeral etiquette, fishing and hunting culture on traditional Meishan paper-cut aesthetic implication and its graphic interpretation, this thesis deems that as a materialized form of Meishan culture, Meishan paper-cut reflects Meishan folk aesthetic connotation. In the realization of practical value, Meishan paper-cut also reflects the aesthetic standards, aesthetic ideal, aesthetic taste and aesthetic emotion of Meishan people.Specifically,from the practical utilitarian and non utilitarian perspective,Meishan paper-cut has the theme of the simple and free image and primary aesthetic consciousness. And based on Meishan people’s simple and classic aesthetic thinking, this paper refines the Meishan paper-cut with pure natural decoration implication and "barbarian-style" aesthetic feelings. In addition, based on the design, combined with folk arts,folklore and folk art disciplines, this thesis combed the graphic features of Meishan paper-cut, and explored the graphic interpretation law of Meishan paper-cut. Additionally, itcombined with the design context to analyze graphic interpretation and innovative design of Meishan paper-cut and,with reference to the graphics style of Meishan paper-cut, it also provided concept reference for contemporary graphic design. Specifically, current design constructs visual design from four dimensions--concept formation, creative graphics,material advantage and performance technology, which enrich design connotation and form of expression to complement the modern design’s lack of attention to regional culture and accomplish the transformation of graphic design from 2D to multidimensional space. At the same time, the paper also discussed the specific design and application of tourist souvenirs and specialty souvenirs and broadened the transmission methods and channels of the intangible culture heritage in the modern cultural ecology of the mode, which can further enhance the influence of Meishan culture.
