Reduplication has been widely used in modern Chinese as an important grammatical rule. It has a variety of forms, and the forms of ABAB and AABB have been investigated frequently. Moreover, the forms of ABAB and AABB usually appear in the verb-reduplication, adjective-reduplication and noun-reduplication. In this paper, we specially select the reduplication of the two-syllable verb, the twosyllable adjective and the two-syllable noun with the forms of ABAB and AABB to investigate the characteristics of the ABAB and AABB reduplication. And their characteristics, such as structure formation, the semantic meaning and the grammatical function, were studied in detail. Furthermore, the results of this work can provide scientific guidance in the foreign Chinese teaching. It can combine theory and practice to promote foreign Chinese teaching.This paper has five sections. In the first section, namely introduction, it explicates the significance, the latest research, the research scope, the research technique and the source of corpus of the selected research topic of the reduplication of the two-syllable verb, the two-syllable adjective and the two-syllable noun with the form of ABAB and AABB. In the second,third and fourth section, we investigate the structure formation, the semantic meaning and the grammatical function of the reduplication of the two-syllable verb, adjective and noun with the form of ABAB and AABB, respectively. In the last section, we offer some strategies in the foreign Chinese teaching.
