A Report On The Translation Of Korea Food Code(English Version)

With the integration of world economy, every nation in the world is devoted to its economic development, which correspondingly requires the construction and improvement of its legal system. It is the same with China. A large number of foreign legislative documents are translated into Chinese every year, so that they can be referred to and resorted to by the concerned governmental departments or commercial companies to know better the legal standard in other countries and improve the legal system in China as well. And since English is one of the international languages, many non-English-speaking countries make English-version laws with their own features, which offers translators lots of English-Chinese translation tasks and challenges as well. Term translation plays a vital role in the translation of legal documents.This research report, taking the case of Korea Food Code(English version) as an example, tries to summarize the methods and analyze the problems in the translating process. First, it analyzes the original text. And then, by illustrating the relevant examples, it introduces the translating procedure in term of pre-translation and translation and post-translation. The last part gives a summary of the whole paper. The body part of this report describes the translation experience and methods and strategies in this legal translation. Finally, the conclusion emphasizes the inspiration and expectations from this translation task and for the future translation of specific terms in legal translation.
