Orientations to happiness refers to the way of individual obtain happiness;career adaptability refers to the ability of individual to adapt to changes in career role and to maintain a balance with them. Orientations to happiness and career adaptability are the important parts of university students’ healthy personality development, playing important roles for university students. And self control is one of the main ability for university students. Therefore, this study is to revise the《Orientations to Happiness Questionnaire》and the《University Students’ Career Adaptability Inventory》to applying to Chinese university students and to explore the relationship of orientations to happiness, career adaptability and self control.The study includes three parts: The first one is the revision of the university students’ 《Orientations to Happiness Questionnaire》; the second is the revision of the《University Students’ Career Adaptability Inventory》; and the third research the relationship of the university students’ orientations to happiness, career adaptability and self control. This research uses the cluster sampling method, and I choose 700 university students at the first test and 610 university students at the retest, who will fill out of the scale from five universities in Beijing, Jinan and Shijiazhuang. The result through the statistical analysis mainly showed that:1. The revision of university students’ 《 Orientations to Happiness Questionnaire 》 with a total of 13 projects concludes three factors: pleasure orientation, engagement orientation and meaning orientation, and scale has good reliability and validity which can effectively measure orientations to happiness of university students.2. The revision of 《University Students’ Career Adaptability Inventory》 with a total of 16 projects concludes four factors: career concern, career control, career curiosity and career confidence and scale has good reliability and validity which can effective measure of university students career adaptability.3. The scores of the university students’ orientations to happiness of each dimension has significant grade differences, gender differences(except pleasureorientation), ‘whether the one-child’ differences(except meaning orientation) and the differences of the origin of students(except pleasure orientation). The scores of senior university students in each dimension were significantly higher than junior university students’. Male university students’ scores were higher than female. The scores of university students who come from the town were higher than from rural.And the only-child university students’ scores were higher than the one-child students’.4. The scores of university students’ career adaptability in each dimension has significant grade differences, gender differences(except the career control), ‘whether the one-child’ differences(except the career control) and the differences of the origin of students(except the career concern). The scores of senior university students in each dimension were significantly higher than junior university students’. Male university students’ scores were higher than female. And the only-child university students’ scores were higher than the one-child students’.5. There were significant positive correlation relationship between the university students’ orientations to happiness and career adaptability.6. The self control ability of university students can well predict the orientation of happiness and career adaptation levels. And then, there was a quadratic curve relationship respectively between the self control with orientations to happiness and career adaptability: The higher or lower levels of self control did not have good orientation of happiness and career adaptability and only can the moderate levels of self-control have good orientations to happiness and career adaptability.
