As an important representative of popular art, comic has gained its popularity around the world. Among those famous, there is American comics which enjoy a large readership both in America and China. Correspondingly, although translations on American comics are in great abundance, acceptable versions can be rarely found as there is still a long way to go before they made a systematic research on their translations. This is an E- C translation report on The Accelerators, an American comic strip, which demonstrates a typical case of comics languages. It tells a story that a group of people who were stuck in the future try to find their way home after they struggled to survive. On the basis of seven issues translated by the author, this report gives a general description of the translating process, analyzes the features of the comic languages as well as the difficult parts to translate them, and provides some fundamental approaches to translate the comic languages under the guidance of the Skopos Theory. Eventually, the practice report is concluded with a few personal experiences and advises. This report is divided into six parts. Part One is a brief introduction about the contents of this paper. Part Two is the description of the translation project. Part Three explains the translating process with some previews, the Skopos Theory and reviews involved. Part Four is the analysis of the features of the comics languages plus some relevant difficulties in translating. Part Five reaches the main point of this paper, including several translation methods to the American comics languages. Part Six concludes the paper with suggestions for the future translation of American comics.
