With the conduction of frequent cultural communion between countries, many autobiographies written by foreign celebrities are known, but a great many of books by Jimmy Carter are rarely known by people.A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety is a memoir about his lifetime by the time he is ninety, which has an essential literary meaning and historical value. Therefore, regardless of the language style in the autobiography or writing angle of the author, translating the source text can provide other translators useful experience of translating autobiography for reference. The thesis is a translation practice report from English to Chinese, and the translation text is the eighth chapter and acknowledgements from the autobiography A Full Life:Reflections at Ninety by the former US President Jimmy Carter. The eighth chapter mainly describes that Jimmy Carter devotes himself to the foundation of the Carter Center and Habitat for Humanity, besides that,he alleviates international conflicts and helps the poor build houses, which truly and accurately conveys the President's love for peace and his loyalty to justice. The report discusses the translation strategy of autobiography literature under the guidance of Skopos Theory according to the characteristics of autobiography. In the first place, the report briefly depicts the significance of translating the source text and the main content of the source text. Then the author chiefly describes the overall process in the translation, including pre-translation analysis and preparation, the specification of translation process, and post-translation items. The case analysis is the most important part in the translation report.By a more knowledge and grasp of main points about the Skopos Theory that translation theorists suggest, based on the theoretical support of three rules of Skopos Theory, the author classifies and analyzes the difficulties in translation from the point oflexical level, syntactic level and semantic level,at the same time, for the translation problems, different translation strategies and approaches are used to deal with them.In the end,the author summarizes the experience of translating the autobiography and deeply reviews the lack of translation experience in conclusion.By the translation of the autobiography A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety, the author applies the Skopos Theory by Hans Vermeer to case analysis. Therefore, the report deeply understands three rules of Skopos Theory and enhances the translation ability to autobiography.
