Research On "Shi Dian Tou"

The topic of this passage is based on the research on the short novel of Ming Dynasty Shi Dian Tou. And it is also a typical short novel with art achievement in the late of Ming Dynasty. Owing to the academic society pays due attention to the famous book "San Yan and Er Pai "all the time, this book does not draw much attention. Based on the former researches, this thesis will does a thorough and complete research and analysis on the book with the space of master’s thesis and it is composed of five parts.The introduction of this thesis covered the research situation and methods respectively of this book.The first chapter of this book is general creation overview. First of all, it is the introduction of the author. There are some arguments existed in the academic society about who is the true author.According to related resources and researches achievements, his thesis deduced that the author might be one of Feng Menglong’s friends. Secondly, this thesis introduced sources of the stories in the book and resources process methods. The stories in this book are mainly rooted in the notes, miscellaneous biographies, novels and unofficial histories which created in the same time or the Ming Dynasty. The author of this book did according revision, combination, modification and added a great deal of his own thoughts and interests. Finally, the thesis discussed creation purpose and stance of the author.The second chapter mainly described the content of "Shi Dian Tou".First of all, the first mentioned topic is marriage view. There are so many stories related to the outlook on marriage that more that half of the figures in the stories are females.Those stories are basically expressed the loyalty of woman to their husband and marriage. However, in other passages of this book, we could also notice women’understanding and support for the pursuit of love freedom. This sort of paradoxical view on marriage is the consequence that produced by the thought of individuality liberty in the late of Ming Dynasty. In addition, the second topic of this book is the perspective on loyalty and filial duty, which are the core of Confucianism. Through the illustrations and depictions of a man of loyalty,we could found that they can always won high praise from the author and their compliments throughout the entire book. The third one is the view on being an official. The imperial examination and official circle are the typical topics for civilized works. As one work that filled with the thought and awareness of the letter of men lived in the late of Ming Dynasty, this book takes lots of space to depict imperial examination and official circle with ironic tone.In third chapter, this thesis mainly discussed the artful traits of "Shi Dian Tou". Firstly, from the perspective on narration system, this thesis discussed the usage of the introduction and body those two structural parts. Secondly, it explained narration structure of the book, double clues is the most special narration method for the short novel in Ming Dynasty. And based on this, the author did lots of personal process. Last but not last, the thesis explained the technique of expression of the book from the perspective of language feature, psychological description and portrait description. Although there are lots of figures in the stories, they possess their own dispositions, vocabulary as well as tone. Besides, its narrative languages also attach great importance to wording and the quotation of famous stories.The conclusion of the thesis pointed out the inheritance of former works of this book and its influence on the later works. In order to analyze the stance of the book on the development of literature, this thesis compared "Shi Dian Tou " with the works in the same time and the former and later works on the diachronic and synchronic aspect respectively.
