Studies On Chinese Characters In Zilin Zhiqi

After Gabo Reform, the concept about "dictionary" established in South Korea. Zilin Buzhu(字林补注)is one of the representative works of the period. Zilin Zhiqi(字林摭奇)is an important part of the book. The purpose of Zilin Zhiqi is not only to supplement Zilin Buzhu, but also to distinguish similar Chinese characters. Zilin Zhiqi collected 6965 form nearly words from Kangxi Dictionary(康熙字典), which are arranged according to distinctive style. Besides the book contains abundant the inter-relation of Chinese characters. It Reflects Koreans’ perception of Chinese characters. Zilin Zhiqi has the extremely important value in Chinese Philology and Spread History of Chinese characters. It is a very important material in foreign Chinese ancient classics, which has been ignored for quite a long time, and there is few relevant research on it, so it is very necessary to conduct in-depth research.This paper studies mainly focused on author, edition, style, content and the inter-relation of Chinese characters. The main points can be summarized as follows: 1.analysis its style and characteristic. reveal the style layout innovation in this book: break traditional arrangement method to joining words according form, initiate components which are similar to radicals of Chinese; classify with using the new terms based on its own system; compare Hangul and Chinese character form in dictionary for the first time, revealing the close contact between them; arrange the order of Chinese characters following the traditional rules according to the number of strokes, and the way of explaining Chinese characters as same as books in the same period; ignore nature of Chinese characters, principle of classification is not quite consistent.2. Based on the related content of combing, summarize the features of similar Chinese characters in this book:components overlap, components change, and a single component. It reveals the Lexicographer’s cognition of Chinese characters who had such knowledge of dynamic combination, but ignored multi levels of the Chinese characters and function of different levels of components. It does suggest that he cognized Chinese characters at flat structure level.3.Comparing with Kangxi dictionary, conclusions are as follows:Zilin Zhiqi has its rationality, reasonably, creatively and mistakenly. It reveals the process of external nation’s cognitions suited to Chinese characters and its inter-relation.In conclusion, the thesis mainly resolves the problems of compilation format, content of the Chinese characters and the inter-relation of Chinese characters. The analysis of it enables us to have a better in-depth look at the book, and shows that it has merit in Chinese Philology.
