With the continuous improvement and development of material life and spiritual life, people have a growing demand for tourism; with China’s reform and opening-up and economic development, more and more foreigners start to pay attention to this mysterious land. However, language barrier becomes a big obstacle to cultural exchanges between two different countries, and the differences between Chinese and western cultures are barriers for foreign tourists to fully understand the Chinese culture and enjoy the happiness of sightseeing in China. Effective interpreting strategies are important to solve this problem. The author is entrusted by two American tourists to interpret for them in the tour to Beiling Park. This report is based on the interpreting practice, explores how to choose and apply “domestication” and “foreignization” strategies to enable foreign visitors not only to understand Chinese culture, but also to get interested in it.This report introduces the development of tour guide interpretation and the theory of “domestication” and “foreignization”, presents the problems such as loss of information, the delivery of culture-loaded content in this practice, and proposes the right strategies of “domestication” and “foreignization” to solve the problems. In the last part, this report conducts a conclusion, domestication could make foreign visitors understand Chinese culture; on the other hand, foreignization could help them get interested in it. What’s more, in the choice of “domestication” and “foreignization”, interpreters should consider the type of the source language, the characteristics of the foreign visitors and should also take the interpreting purpose into account.
