| As comprehensive reference books which are published year by year and systematically record the annual development of things, yearbooks play an important role in propelling information exchange, understanding the general situations of a certain region or domain, and making relevant decisions; therefore, the compilation and publication of various yearbooks flourishes all over the world. The globalization of information exchange coming with that of economy makes the translation of yearbooks one of the most important channels for people to understand the status of a certain region or domain directly, quickly and systematically. On this occasion, how to make the translation versions of yearbooks to pass information as effectively as the original ones becomes an inevitable question for translators against the background of yearbooks compilation and publication fever.Text Typology and Skopostheory of Functionalist Translation Theory combine text types, text functions and translation purposes with translation strategies. Moreover, Text Typology, Skopostheory and yearbooks all have the characteristics of informativity and instrumentality, so these two theories provide systematical theoretical guidance and strategic support for the translation of yearbook texts. Guided by Text Typology and Skopostheory of Functionalist Translation Theory, this report conducts relevant studies on the translation of yearbook texts, and aims at providing the translation version of the texts excerpted from the Industrial Economy part of Huaibei Yearbook 2014 and summarizing the translation methods and strategies of the words, sentences and discourses of yearbooks at the same time, in order to provide relevant experience of yearbook translation for reference and improve the quality of yearbook translation. |
