With the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Cambodia, the two countries are developing ever closer ties in many fields, especially those industries where there will be mutually beneficial economic advantages. On April 2016,both nations officially signed The Memorandum of Understanding on Metrology Cooperation between the China National Institute of Metrology and the Cambodian National Metrology Center, which facilitated this technologically fertile training program. The major training curricula are as follows:1.the metrology value disseminating methods of China,2.the basic concepts in the field of electrical metrology,3.the verification methods and data processing of electrical energy meters,Amperemeters,Voltmeters and Ohmmeters.A schedule was set to visit electrical measuring apparatus manufacturers in Guangzhou,Nanning and elsewhere, through which could be achieved a better understanding of the manufacturing process, techniques and quality control methods in operation. The duration of the training course was an entire month. From July 15th to August 12th,2016,the author was fortunate to have independently undertaken most of the translating and consecutive interpreting responsibilities for the Training Courses of Cambodian Metrology Technicians by the Guangxi Institute of Metrology and Testing. This report analyzes the interpreting experience in detail, with its contents(in sub-sections)ranging from task description,pre-interpreting preparation, case studies,post-interpreting assessment and, finally,a summarizing conclusion. The Introduction is mainly about the task description, the background of the event, the research purpose and the meaning of this report.Chapter 2 covers pre-interpreting preparation, including long-term preparation and short-term preparation. The case studies will be presented in Chapter 3.In allegiance with the actual on-site interpreting performance, typical interpretation issues, such as Cambodian English variants, long sentences, and communication with clients and audience members will be chosen for analysis based on relevant interpreting theories.Reflections on those issues will be made in this chapter. As well, the author will suggest alternative interpreting strategies.Chapter 4 provides an assessment for this event, including self-evaluation,feedback from the task organizer and the audience. The last Chapter renders conclusions concerning this thesis which evaluates exemplary interpreting techniques. This report will provide an analysis,self-assessment and conclusion to this interpreting experience which has provided abundant material and topics to be used in case studies. It will please the author if students and future colleagues in the field of interpreting will find within the study useful perspective, material and sources from this work.
