The translation of English for science and technology(EST) has played an important role in knowledge popularizing. Based on the program Digital Image Forensics Course of the company, the author translated the text Digital Image Forensics as the material in order to help its employees better understand digital image processing. The report consists of five parts. Chapter One describes the related information of the translation task, i.e. the task background, task requirements, translation process and significance. Chapter Two illustrates the guidance theory and characteristics of the original texts, including the development and main rules of the Skopos theory. The three main rules are Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule. The main part of the report is Chapter Three. This chapter has done an analysis in the perspective of words, complex sentences and formulae, figures and tables. For the words, conversion and notation are adopted; for the complex sentences, reconstruction and integration are chosen; for the formulae, figures and tables, copy and addition are used. The last Chapter is the summary for the findings, the left problems and expectations. After the translation task, the author makes a conclusion that it is the precondition for the commercial translation to fully respect and clearly know what the target readers want. Based on the accurate translation, the requirements should be the priority, especially in the field of digital image. All the translation skills are more concrete and detail-oriented. The translation used for public purpose is different from the one for personal aims. Translation for personal aims is relatively more human and flexible which means translation action is indeed a complicated communication. Therefore, different purposes justify different ways, even though for the same original text. The traditional word-for-word translation and standard format should be adjusted according to the client’s need. All in all, the author hopes the report is helpful to other translators in EST translation, especially in the field of image processing.
