With the functional equivalence theory as its theoretical framework and from the perspective of context, the thesis discusses the application of the theory in the C-E simultaneous interpreting of the Netease Open Course Basic Theory of Public Security. Context is a restrictive factor in the process of interpreting, which is possible on the premise that the source text is understood in its context. As the Functional equivalence theory pursues the same effect of the target text as the source text, the interpreter is not only supposed to understand the source text context, but also supposed to create an equivalent context in the target language. Therefore, different interpreting strategies are adopted to guarantee the examples discussed in the thesis to achieve equivalence from the perspective of context, which can be divided into linguistic context, situational context, cultural context and stylistic context. In the process of C-E simultaneous interpreting of online open courses, the interpreter could achieve the above four contextual equivalences by following four interpreting principles held by the Functional Equivalence Theory, including making sense, conveying the spirit and manner of the original, having a natural and easy form of the expression as well as producing a similar response.
