In 1919,the application of simultaneous interpreting in the Paris Peace Conference has made interpreting as an occupation to a good start.Afterwards, interpreting has been more and more notable in the world,as it is applied to discuss the most important international issues and decisions.Since China has entered the WTO,it has been playing a vital role in Chinese politics, economy and foreign cultural exchange. This report is a Chinese-English simulated simultaneous interpreting practice based on the New Year's Eve speech of A Friend of Time addressed by Luo Zhenyu. On the late evening of December 31,2016,Mr.Luo held the second speech in Shenzhen. The whole speech was interspersed with a large number of famous quotes, and mottos.During the speech, the speaker,Mr.Luo,mainly discussed the development of China's Internet industry which attracted great attention from the international community. However, there is no English interpreting version for the speech now.If it can be interpreted into English,it will give people around the world new insights into the development of China's Internet economy, which can make a great contribution to the Internet economy in China. The interpreter uses the material to carry out interpreting practice.Based on the case study of functional equivalence theory, the interpreter discusses the application of Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting from the perspective of context. The order in which words appear in English, like the order of Chinese characters,is of prime importance as an indicator of the relations between them and hence of meaning. Therefore, based on Nida's functional equivalence theory,in this thesis the interpreter analyzes the order of word in the sentence appearing in the simultaneous interpreting practice. The Chinese sentences are complex and connect sentences with the method of parataxis while English sentences follow the rules of grammar and connect sentences by the means of hypo taxis. In the process of simultaneous interpreting from Chinese to English, interpreters must understand the differences between the two languages.Only in this way,can the interpreter make the interpretation conform to the syntactic requirements, and make the audience understand the lexical meaning easily. In order to solve the difficulties in the interpretation, that is,the interpretation of long sentences, the interpreter classifies the cases into two categories. One is the use of the theory of formal equivalence to interpret Chinese sentences in chronicle style, and the other is to interpret the other long sentences using the theory of dynamic equivalence.
