A Practice Report On The C-E Interpreting Of Lecture In Light Of Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory

This thesis is a C-E interpretation practice report which is under guidance of Nida’s functional equivalence theory.In this report,simultaneous interpretation is chosen as the form of interpretation,and a lecture on Chinese social security reform is chosen as the task target.In the research,the main research angle is analytical and the main methods are analytical method and inductive method.With the globalization deepening on all respects,interpretation has played more and more important role in international communication.As a form of translation,interpretation is more flexible and difficult,let alone simultaneous interpretation.Through this report,it is expected that some problems of the simultaneous interpretation can be exposed and Nida’s functional equivalence theory can be applied to solve those problems.After the whole study,it is expected to summarize some of the methods which can be applied in the interpretation and bring some lights on how to be a professional interpreter.Besides,it is hopeful that some parallel text or reference on social security and lecture interpretation can be offered.After the whole study,it is concluded that the core of Nida’s functional equivalence theory is consistent with the purpose of interpretation,which means the two both put focus on response of target readers.Thus,the theory can be applied for interpretation,and it has great effect on how to deal with original text that contains culture gap.
