Under the background of global developing integration, cultural exchanges among different countries are becoming increasingly close. The documentary film is an art form that takes practical experience as its creation material.Based on its authenticity and artistry, documentary film has become an important way of cultural communication. This report takes "Yuan Longping: Sings for The Time",a documentary about Yuan Longping’s scientific career,as the material for interpreting practice. The material lasts about 43 minutes. There are many agricultural and biological terms in the content. The narration is main content interspersed with character dialogues.Due to the instantaneity,Simultaneous interpreting is chosen for the documentary film interpreting practice. In 1964,translation theorist Eugene Nida proposed functional equivalence theory, which provides a new perspective for people to understand and evaluate translation.Nida believes that translation should achieve the most natural equivalence between source language and target language, which mainly includes lexical equivalence, syntactic equivalence, textual equivalence and stylistic equivalence. In translation work, the translator should give priority to transmitting the connotation of the source language, and then pursue the equivalence of style and form. This paper provides some references for other interpreters in the simultaneous interpreting of this kind of documentary. |
