The Error Analysis On Adverbials Word Order In Chinese Made By Indian Students

Chinese language is the representative of the isolating language in which word order is an important approach to express its grammatical meaning. Researches show that foreign students have very high error rates in the aspect of word order in their writing expression. The author found that Chinese learners had severe errors in adverbial word order during the internship in Chinese department of India Visva Bharati University. This thesis takes them as the object of study and collect the writing materials about 110 thousand words including their homework, diaries and setting compositions and finally get the error situation in adverbial word order. This research shows that the error type of India students can be divide into single adverbial word order errors and multiple adverbial word order errors. Among the error types, single adverbial word errors hold the large proportion, mainly in adverbs and prepositional phrases, multiple adverbial word orders mostly occurs in two-adverbial sentences. This thesis analyzes and corrects these error sentences according to the adverbial word order researches of the educational circle. The thesis tries to find analyze the reasons of students’ errors on the basis of Inter-language theory, Error Analysis theory as well as some research methods, such as survey, contrastive analysis and interview. The reasons of students’ adverbial word order mainly includes the difficulty of adverb, inter-language transfer, learning strategies and study environment. Based on the situation of students’ errors and the author’s teaching experience, this thesis offers four teaching suggestions including stage teaching, contrastive teaching, exercises methods and guidance of writing habits.
