Hope is an ancient and new topic. The dream of seeking an appropriate standard of hope runs through the human society.To Ernst Bloch, the focus of the whole human spirit history is to suppose beforehand a better life. Hope, intently embodies intention for human beings to a more beautiful future. At the same time, Bloch’s philosophy of hope puts forward the new approach for us to study the problem of social hope.This thesis revolves around Ernst Bloch’s works such as The Principle of Hope and generalizes the basic content and characteristics of Bloch’s philosophy of hope. Firstly, the article briefly describes Bloch’s life and philosophical thoughts.Secondly, analyzes the theoretical basis of " Philosophy of the Hope" thought and draws forth some deep questions. Thirdly, the author elaborates the theoretical framework of "Philosophy of the Hope" and redefines the concrete connotation of "hope" from the view point of anthropology-ontology. At the same time,he clearly shows hope will become disappointment, in order to show the real connotation of "Philosophy of the Hope". Finally, the thesis evaluates Bloch’s thought from the relationship between "hope" and Marxism to reveal the theoretical value and practical significance.
