A Practice Report On Interpretation Of A TV Interview In Brunei Exhibition Area At 2015 Guilin Tourism Expo

Based on the author’s consecutive interpreting practice, this interpretation practice report is about a TV interview of Brunei exhibition area at Guilin tourism Expo in 2015. During this practice, the author was in charge of escort interpretation. The interview was non-planned. So this paper can provide reference value for similar interpretation tasks and works which require high adaptive capacity.This paper includes 5 parts:practice description, process introduction, preparation before interpreting, case analysis and summary. The first part is a general description of the contents and characteristics of the task. The second part focuses on the overall preparation and practice process. The main body of this paper is the third part and the fourth one. The third part introduces the whole preparation process, including the contents and understanding of spot etiquette, background information collecting, and difficulties prediction etc.At last, author analyzed the practice carefully according to the recording materials, the basic skills and principles of interpretation. Author summarized the live interpretation quality and questions. Meanwhile, author concluded the experience of other interpreters and made a deep self-examination. Wish it could improve author’s ability and give other interpreters who need to tackle same kind of works some help.
