In recent years, Chinese tourists enjoy more opportunities to visit Europe. With closer exchanges between China and Europe, southwest China is also blessed with broader access to European countries. Most of the residents in southwest China used to book flight or train tickets online, which runs certain risks. However, this project of issuing European rail tickets has built an easier platform for ordinary people who are not skilled in handling online transactions to buy paper-based train tickets throughout Europe. This report is based on a consecutive interpreting practice. It is a training session aiming at enabling Chinese trainees to issue European rail tickets with the terminal in Kunming. It covers several fields, such as typical types and features of European trains and tickets, historical and cultural touristic attractions in European countries, tour planning, terminal handling, marketing and so on.With the enlightenment of the Interpretive Theory put forward by Danica Seleskovitch, the author provides sufficient examples of practical interpreting methods and techniques in Chapter Two, which are both authentic and useful for interpreters. Two main problems and their related solutions are given concerning listening comprehension and misinterpretation. The author provides examples of how to grasp the key information when encountered with a difficult accent. The author also points out that context and unspoken ideas behind linguistic forms overweigh directly spoken messages. On the basis of the author’s simulative and on-spot interpreting experiences, five solutions to misinterpreting are given. In Chapter Three, the author summarizes the whole thesis and points out ways of improving future interpreting for readers. Three particular suggestions are given for readers’ use of reference.
