The Research On Community Home-based Support For Old People

With the rapid development of society and economic, urban population aging has beena serious problem in China. Xinhua Street is a district of Guangzhou City which firstentered aging society, and its problem of how to provide for the aged is prominent. Thisproblem does not only related to the old-age security and social stability, but also affect thedemographic, economic, sustainable development of society.Xinhua Street has entered the ranks of the aging population district, more than one inevery ten citizens is60years or older. The regional situation that “Old before getting rich”further highlights the endowment issues. In this case, the community-based housing supportdevelopment becomes the carrier which all kinds of elderly people services rely on. It’sbecoming a trend that pension function transfer from family to community. It bases on therequirement of aging population, combines the family and the community, and becomes anew way to support the elderly people. Therefore, community service is getting more andmore important in elderly people support, and the community-based housing support is alsohaving a great boom in Xinhua Street.Currently, there are three ways of home care service in Xinhua Street, which aregovernment-sponsored, social organization participated, and services provided bydiversified carriers. There are also three operation models in Xinhua Street, firstly,community home care services are provided by the private pension institutions; secondly,based on the "Starlight Homes for Elderly People", to create a community home careservice platform; thirdly, based on family services center, to introduce social forces to carryout elder people home care service. Under the grim background of increasingly agingpopulation, the most important thing for the elderly is to choose a suitable mode to livehealthy, happy and valuable in their later years. Regarding these facts, we have to organizethe forces of both government and nongovernment to promote the service development.Based on the development status of Xinhua Street community home care service, thisarticle tries to analysis what role the government plays, what resources and knowledge arelimited in extending the service model, and think deeply to provide proposal on how to popularize the community-based housing support service in the elderly people.
