Study On The Lifestyle Of New Generationg Migrant Workers From The Social Integration Perspective

Urbanization in China is accelerating due to the reform and opening policy. During this process, rural population flock to cities where they expect to make their fortune. Consequently,protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the group, and prompting them to truly integrate into the urban society is beneficial for the development of China’s urbanization and industrialization,which is a major consideration when handling the related problems of this group.Otherwise, the new generation of migrant workers were very likely to become a potential obstacle which will worsen the harmonious atmosphere of the society. Thus, how the new generation of migrant workers adapt the city life,how they change their lifestyle and eventually integrate into the community is one of the important research topics of Urban Sociology of China. Questionnaires survey and in-depth interview will be used as the main research methods in this article.We will also focus on four dimensions to study their lifestyle, they are family lifestyle, leisure lifestyle, socializing pattern and consumption lifestyles,the study will be done from a social inclusion perspective.Firstly,the study of the family lifestyle of the new generation of migrant workers involves the study of family and marriage values, family behavior and household consumption aspects;Secondly,the content of leisure lifestyle is more widely, this article mainly focuses on migrant workers’working hours, leisure time, leisure content, general attitude and the satisfaction of leisure lifestyle; Additionally,the study on the socializing pattern mainly focus on new generation migrant workers’ communication form, communication content and trust psychology; Last but not the least is the study of the new generation migrant workers’consumption lifestyle,which mainly related to the consumption level of consumers,consumption structure, consumers’attitudes and their identity. In the end of each chapter, the author will make a brief summary of the survey results,and most importantly, in the last chapter,the author will make a conclusive summary of its overall results.Then a more detailed analysis will be done from social integration perspective:the analysis of economic integration, cultural acceptance and behavioral adaptation and concept of identity. And thereafter, the author of both studies were reviewed and the future expectations of the research are discussed.The results of the study is that the lifestyle of those new generation of migrant workers has some modern urban characteristics due to the impact of urban cultule,but the inertia of the culture of rural community is an obstacle for the cultural integration of migrant workers,and the institutional limitations and restrictions are also a threat for the integration of the new generation of migrant workers.In order to integrate to city life,the new generation of migrant workers not only need to adapt but also need to accept urban culture.
