The Regional Economic Cooperation In The Framework Of The Shanghai Cooperation Organization

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization consists of 6countries, including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Its predecessor is the Shanghai Five Mechanism which is founded in April, 1996 in Shanghai. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is the first international organization which is founded in China and name after a Chinese city, Shanghai. With the development and construction during these decades, the influence of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization become greater and greater in international and regional affairs. It is becoming an important regional organization gradually. At the very beginning, it was aimed at settling the border problems between China and other countries so as to strengthen mutual trust and disarmament in border areas. With the participation of Uzbekistan in June, 2001, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was finally founded on the base of the Shanghai Five Mechanism and began its function in economic fields.For the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the regional economic cooperation have become an important part. Not only the natural extension of security, but also a focus in the cooperation between each member. The cooperation in the regional security and realize the win-win progress at the same time. These all will accelerate the economic development of all countries. The first step of regional economic cooperation has been build up at present. This cooperation has come to a new period. Many aspects has got huge success so far, such as system, law, transportation, energy, trades, finance and the communication between enterprise.Actually, the progress Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s economic cooperation field is slow and restricted. This situation doesn’t adapt to the goal of regional economic cooperation. What’s more, this situation couldn’t adapt the trend of globalization. So the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has to pay close attention to the changes of the current international situation to promote the regional economic transformation.Under the of situation of combining security with economy and developing economy to improve security, further strengthen cooperation with the inter-regional cooperation organizations and reference the successful experience of other regional economic cooperation organizations’ experience, promote the relevant countries to join the process of WTO, and vigorously promote trades and investment facilitation. Deepen economic and trade cooperation relationship to finally realize the establishment of a free trade zone under the framework of the Shanghai cooperation organization.
