Objective1.To screen the workload items of urban home-based care service for elderly;2. Measure the workload of urban home-based care service for elderly,to provide objective date support on the allocation standard of human resources. Methods1. On the basis of literature review and study experts discussion to inform the workload items of urban home-based care service for elderly,two rounds of Delphi technique was adopted to develop the items of workload measurement.2. Selected two home-based care service centers in Zhengzhou by purpose sampling method, measure the direct and indirect care service times form seven nurse aide by the method of Time-and- Motion Study; the frequency, percentage was used to describe the general information of the nurse aide; X ± s was used to describe the working times of common care services items; using the two independent samples t-test to analysis the the direct and indirect working times of per nurse aide one day in different centers;the living care, health care, spiritual consolation working times of per nurse aide one day in different centers. Results1.The workload items of urban home-based care service for elderly was set up by Delphi methods,The final list consisted of 69 activities in two main categories: direct activities(45), indirect activities(24).2.Results:The average working hour of direct and indirect items were measured.3.Analysis revealed that 46.0%、42.1% of the total time was allocated to direct activities in two centers. The direct and indirect working times of per nurse aide one day was statistical difference between two centers(P<0.05).4.Analysis revealed that 86.6%、53.1% of the total time was allocated to living cares in one week in two centers.The living cares working times of per nurse aide one day was statistical difference between two centers(P<0.05). Conclusion1.The workload items of urban home-based care service for elderly was set up by Delphi methods were reliable and scientific.2.The percentage of nurse aide certificate keepers were low,most of the time was allocated to living cares, it was necessary to reinforce the training of National Nurse Aide.3.Most of the time was allocated to indirect working times,it was necessary to reduce the indirect working times,to make the nurse aide have more time to provide direct service for elderly.
