Recently researches on villagers autonomy and village election have been constantly enriched and developed, but very few researchers focus on the villagers’election behavior, and also seldom study about the villagers’election behavior bases on the background of the small town urbanization. Research on the changes of the villagers’election behavior under the background of the small town urbanization shows some important value and significance: to explore the changes and characteristics of the villagers’ election behavior, to analyze the main factors which cause the changes of the villagers’ election behavior, to confirm the great social changes resulted from the small town urbanization from the microcosmic perspective of the changes of the villagers’election behavior, and to extend the related research on this field.On the basis of structural questionnaire survey conducted among 253 villagers, including village cadres and ordinary villagers, and through field research, archives and data collection, this thesis investigates the situation of the village’s social capital in T town, analyzes the changes and characteristics of the villagers’election behavior, explains the main factors which cause the changes of the villagers’election behavior. Through the analysis, some conclusions are drawn. Firstly, the village’s social capital has some differences and can be divided into bridging social capital and bonding social capital. Secondly, the changes of the villagers’ election behavior mainly embody in the changes of motivation, ways, normalization and marginalization and so on. Thirdly, the characteristics of the villagers’ election behavior show up as range extension, enhancement of the trend towards interests, increasing mobilized participation, deepened atomization, and intense enthusiasm among the lower-level election. Fourthly, the factors which cause the changes of the villagers’election behavior include economic factors, political factors, social capital factors and individual factors, among which economic factors and political factors are the major factors.social capital factors has the subtle influence to the villagers’election behavior.Through the discussion, the thesis comes to some conclusions. Firstly, the small town urbanization which brings the integration of social relation structure and the differentiation of social power and interest is the most direct and fundamental reason that leads to the rural society’s transition. Secondly, the peasant’s high differentiation is the most direct reason that causes the change of villagers’ election behavior. Thirdly, the increasing mobilized participation and deepened atomization are the main characteristics of the villagers’election behavior. Fourthly, the infiltration of the national power is a non-negligible external force which causes the change of villagers’ election behavior. Fifthly, the social capital factor is the new perspective that explain the changes of villagers’ election behavior, and the bonding social capital attached around the village two committees has the trend of solidification, which has a negative influence to the society. At last, this thesis puts forward some suggestions for optimizing the villagers’ election behavior.
