A Research On Migrant Workers’ City-Settlement Will

Since China’s reform and opening up, along with the accelerating process of industrialization, the urbanization process is accelerating.In the tide of market economy, a large number of farmers became into migrant workers. The labor migration not only makes the rural surplus labor transfer more successful, but also promoted the economic development of the whole society. With the passage of time, the rural migrant workers in this group is growing stronger,the researches on them are increasingly rich.Among these researches,the willing of settling in cities got wide attention.As the floating population, migrant workers’ choose is not only related to the trend of urbanization, and more related to the overall situation of national economic and social development in our country.The research on Migrant workers’ willingness of settling in cities will help us understand migrant workers present situation and predict the trend of they migration,and is also helpful for the government have a better known of migrant workers.This has great significance for promoting urbanization construction and building a harmonious society.This paper take the migrant workers in shushan district of hefei,as the research object, by using the questionnaire and unstructured interview, to obtain the investigation data and related information. By using SPSS 17.0 entry survey data conducted a comprehensive analysis.The research focuses on the migrant workers’ willing of settling in cities and what factors influencing they choice. finally discusses the conclusions of this study and puts forward related suggestions.The paper can be divided into four parts. The first part introduced the background.purpose and meaning of this research; reviewed the domestic and foreign literature; defined several concepts;and briefly introduced the research content, research method and research object selection methods.The second part of the thesis, Firstly, the basic situation of the investigation objects are introduced.Secondly,using Chi-square test analysis the gender, age, culture degree, marriage status and other factors whether or not have significant impact on the willing of settling in cities. The third part combining the survey data and interviews content, in-depth analysis the influences of children education,parents’ support, economic status, work status and other factors.The last part of the thesis, first discusses the research conclusion of this paper.There are mainly the following points. First, age, marital status, the time they living in city, self identity are the four significant factors influence on migrant workers city-settlement will.Second, children education, parents’support, economic situation, working condition,living condition in city are the five important factors influence on migrant workers city-settlement will. Third, from the survey data, part of the migrant worker have the intention to stay in city, but they still have doubt at self identity, did not think of themselves as city people. In addition, there is still a small part of the migrant workers not clear about their current position and where to settle,there is no clear plan for they future.Based on the above research conclusion, this paper presented suggestions to promote the long-term development of migrant workers in cities from three angles —government, society and migrant workers themselves.
