The Revision Of The Social Skills Scale And Its Application To The Armed Police Soldiers

Objective: To revise social skills Inventory(SSI) which developed by Riggio,and research on the applicability of the armed police soldiers.Provide help for the army to do the related work.Methods:After the scale of the translation,And test in a sample group which has been expanded in society,237 and 453 subjects are sampled by means of pre-test and re-examination.Exploratory factor analysis, item analysis, reliability and validity analysis are used to revise the SSI.Then we test its applicable effect by use the SSI analysis the age, educational level, origin, military age, whether the one-child, military rank in 539 armed police soldiers.Results: 1.The results of analysis show the SSI-X inelude six factors and 90 items. These six factors are Emotional Expressivity, Emotional Sensitivity, Emotional Control,Social Expressivity, Social Sensitivity,Social Control.The αcoefficient of the SSI is 0.934,each subscale coefficient is between 0.746-0.800.The split-half reliability of SSI is 0.865,each subscale split-half reliability is between 0.533-0,688.And two weeks later,the retest reliability of SSI is 0.718,each subscale retest reliability is between 0.668-0.790.Confirmatory factor analysis indicates fitting degree of eaeh index, and compare with SOC correlation coefficient is-0.505,it has significant negative effect.2.Applicability study found,in the total does not show significant difference of age, on the contrary, there are significant difference in emotional expressivity and social control.With the improvement of the level of education, social skills gradually increased, but all level of social skills do not find a significant difference in the level of education.The social skill level of armed police soldiers increased gradually with military age, and there are differences in total as well as the dimensions of emotional expressivity, social expressivity, social control.In the total and social expressivity have significant difference in origin,and urban is better than town, urban and town are better than rural areas. The difference between rural areas and urban is particularly obvious.In social control and social expressivity dimensions, among these soldiers, the only child of a family presents better than those who have brothers and sisters.In the total and all other dimensions have significant difference in military ranks:sergeancy is better than superior soldier, sergeancy and superior soldier than private soldier.At the same time,some of soldiers internal structure of social skills are not balanced.Total and social expressivity and emotional control have triple interaction in military age and origin and whether the one-child.Conclusion: 1.The revised SSI-X is composed of six dimensions: social expressivity, social sensitivity, social control, emotional expressivity, emotional sensitivity, and emotional control.It has good reliability and validity, and has good applicability in the armed police soldiers.2.Social skills of armed police soldiers in age, level of education, one-child, origin, military age, military rank exist different degree of difference.At the same time,some of soldiers internal structure of social skills are not balanced.
