Based on literature review, taking Taiyuan, Shanxi Province as a case, starting from the supply-side and demand-side, this thesis analyses the coordination and balance of the demand and supply of pension agency. With the elderly population increasing, the ability of children to support the old parents reduced, and the capability of family pension dysfunction, pension institutions have become an inevitable way and an important pillar to solve the pension problem, because of their demand increasing, professional services, as well as advantages of scale and so on.This study firstly collects the pension agency on supply situation in Taiyuan, including the indicators like number, type, number of beds, provision of services and fees, etc., which could fully reflect the supply-side. Secondly, through investigations and statistical data, the number of older people, the basic structure, institutional care service needs and capacity to pay the required projects are depicted. Combined with Taiyuan government documents and policy requirements, the number of beds demand is computed, as well as the differences between supply and demand. This paper concludes that the total amount of pension institutions is inadequate, the structural contradiction between supply and demand consisting, and institutional issues higher service charges. On the basis of the analysis, we discuss the main factors affecting the demand and supply.Status quo for the aged imbalance between supply and demand, we propose to increase policy support, diversified pension institutions development strategy, strengthen the management system, learn from foreign experience and other countermeasures.
