The occurrence of major natural disasters, Such as earthquakes, tsunamis and hurricanes, destroyed social infrastructure all over the world, causing a lot of debris and waste in the short term. It was a serious threat to the environment, public health, disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction work, but at the same time also brought opportunities. The effective disaster debris management is responsible for public health, safety and environment, and a source of income to help support post-disaster reconstruction. Disaster debris control and management is one of the great challenges of modern society, overseas has a lot of research and development work, particularly in the United States and Japan, which has accumulated rich experience of disaster debris management for a long time practice and attracted considerable international attention.Disaster debris management has become a hot research topic in emergency management in modern times. But disaster debris management in our country both in research and policy is a relatively new subject, in its infancy. In this article, by sorting out the basic theoretical issues, such as the connotation of the ruins of disaster management, the type of debris, the basic content of disaster debris management, the stage in process of emergency management, the key issues and so on. As well as going ahead case studies:the Kobe and Honshu island earthquake in Japan, Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in the United States, L’Aquila earthquake in Italy, learning from the ruins of disaster management practices in developed countries, building disaster debris management framework and putting forward disaster waste management countermeasures in China This paper aims to interpret disaster debris management entire and more comprehensive, provide the basis for government and related management department decision-making and valuable resources for academic research in the field of emergency management, and finally pave the way for the future development of Chinese disaster debris management.
