With the development and changes of the the world of politics and the trade, China’s comprehensive strength increased and proposed the strategy of "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" an important strategic decision. Since Ocean has always been an natural link between China and foreign countries, once the concept that is the"21st Century Maritime Silk Road" was put forth, it caused widespread discussion between the Chinese and foreign scholars. Among those rich topics, however, little has been discussed on the relationship between "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" and the overseas Chinese, especially those in Southeast Asia who play an important role between China and the countries along the Silk Road. Through the ages, overseas Chinese contributed in different ways like promoting economic and trade exchanges, disseminating Chinese culture and so on. The Malaysian Chinese analyzed in this essay could be seen as the typical representative of them.The Malaysian Chinese created Malaysia’s history together with the local people. Up to now, they still occupied a crucial position in the politics, economy, society and culture of Malaysia. In addition, it can’t be ignored that the overseas Chinese also played an important role throughout the world. And the concept of the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" has been proposed, it was actively supported and widely appreciated by the Malaysian Chinese, but behind this support and praise, we should also see the situation and challenges that the Malaysian Chinese faces in the modern era. Therefore, this essay consists of six parts to start on. The introduction part mainly introduced the reason and significance of this topic, research trends and research methods at home and abroad. The first chapter placed emphasis on the brief review and consolidation of the history of the Malaysian Chinese, their history is not only about the quantity increase but also reflected in the national identity changes. This chapter was divided in two parts (before the 1950s,1950’s-1990’s) to discuss and analyze the basic situation of the Malaysian Chinese. The second chapter is mainly based on the new changes in the group of the Malaysian Chinese since the formation of the Society of the Malaysian Chinese, mainly to increase to the "new immigrants". In addition, the second section has a brief introduction of the basic changes for the identity of the people of the Malaysian to the Malaysian Chinese. The third chapter focused on the Malaysian Chinese’s situation in the political, economic and cultural field since the Cold War. Their status and influence directly determines the role the played in the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road". The third chapter is the key chapter of this paper and this chapter introduced the attitudes Malaysian Chinese held towards the construction of "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" which would probably affect the local’s attitudes and perceptions of the "Marine Silk Road". The enthusiasm of Malaysian can’t be separated from the strong support and active participation of the Malaysian Chinese. Therefore, in understanding the basic situation of the Malaysian Chinese’historical development and the current situation of the political, economic and cultural of the Malaysian Chinese, and further proposed the suggestion that Chinese government should take to deal with the overseas Chinese affairs. The last part of this essay is the conclusion, and in the epilogue the theme of the essay will be restated and summarized.According to the analysis of this essay, it is clear that on the one hand the relationship between the Malaysian Chinese and China is related to the correlation between the two governments, on the other hand the effort of overseas Chinese also promote a good relation between the two countries. Nowadays, the status quo in the host country of Malaysian Chinese political, economic and cultural development in the face, particularly challenges have prompted the Chinese to seek better development, such as in politics, the demands of Malaysian Chinese is raised by BN government’s attention and concern in Malaysia; in economy, the businessmen of Malaysian Chinese also seeking further breakthroughs and development; in China’s cultural heritage, in order to break the bottleneck in the development of this situation,the overseas Chinese also look forward to China’s friendly exchanges. In short, the situation and the status of Malaysian Chinese now faces for China to build "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" provides an important opportunity to take advantage of overseas Chinese advantage. This positive attitude from the Chinese community and enthusiasm reflect the Silk Road Construction can get a glimpse or two. Therefore, in order to play the prominent role in the construction of the Silk Road, the Overseas Chinese Affairs should develop reasonable policies and to support the construction. It becomes even more important and urgent now. Within the context of the development of healthy bilateral relations, encouraging the Malaysian Chinese to play a positive role between China and the host country as a bridge or link will directly contribute to the construction of "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" and the realization of a the win-win cooperation between China and the countries along the route.
