As a close neighbor country of China, Vietnam locates at the south of China. After mutual interaction for thousand of years, the two countries have formed the similar historical background and national conditions. Like China, Vietnam is one of several socialist countries surviving in dramatic change of Soviet Union. On the basis of summarizing the experience and lessons of socialist construction, the communist party of Vietnam put forward a new path of reform and opening up in the sixth congress of the party in December, 1986, which creates a socialist road with Vietnamese characteristics, takes a big step and achieves remarkable results especially in political system reform. A study on the advancing course and basic content of the political system reform in Vietnam and an analysis on its advantages and disadvantages will give some enlightenment to the political system reform in our country.The thesis is composed of five chapters.Chapter one is an introduction to the research background and current situation, etc..Chapter two analyzes background of political system reform in Vietnam at home and abroad and also expounds the historical process of political system reform in Vietnam, which is divided into three stages.Chapter three elaborates the main measures of political system reform in Vietnam from four aspects, namely, reform of the National Congress of Vietnam, construction of the inner party democracy, expansion of grassroots democracy and simplification of the government.Chapter four summarizes the achievements of political system reform in Vietnam from the aspects as promotion of young cadres, and implementation of trust and voting. Besides, it analyzes the limitations of political system reform from the perspective of corruption and values.Chapter five presents some useful enlightenment for China’s reform from discussion of political system reform in Vietnam: political system reform must continue to advance; the political system reform must be adapted to the economic system reform; the political system reform must be taken step by step.
