With the promotion of reform and opening up policy, the rural economic and political system reform has been deepening and the interest structure has also been adjusted. Then the main status of the farmers has been improved, and their ability of public participation has also been enhanced. In addition to the bias of the supply of the country’s rural public goods and services, the farmers’rights of citizenship have been effectively promoted. However, in the process of development, the local government sometimes has a tendency to ignore the subjectivity and the interests of farmers, and to seeking economic and political development. The increasing of farmers’rights struggle not only reflects the development of democratic politics and the improvement of farmers’ rights consciousness, but also reflects the limitations of the communication between the state and the society. In this paper, the writer tried to narrate and analyze her uncle’s rights struggle and find the logic of it. The uncle’s experience can nearly be divided into three stages:from attempting to take part in the struggle for rights, coming to the fore and leading activist action, to retreating behind the scenes and guiding the struggle secretly. In the early attempt, he took part in others’team for rights’struggle, and learned that they should obtain the activist legitimacy, understand the settle logic of the governments, mobilize villagers and take advantages of the mass media. Gradually, he began to actively organize farmers to propose interests demand to local governments, and timely compromise with continuously refined and stable methods. And the last but not least, he stole from the public sphere, asserted his own rights, and guided other villagers in rights claim secretly. From those experience of the uncle, the writer tries to summarize the characteristics of involution of the rights’struggle:from the perspective of strategy of safeguarding rights, he took public interests as problem strategy to seek personal interests and then neglect of public interests; from the point of view of his means, he fall into a self-locking way that putting pressure on the local governments, resulting in that he could not expand means of protection; and in the process, because of limitation of his means and abilities, activism was always inclined to compromise; then taking a look at the results of the rights’struggle, the terminus of activism is to realize the personal interest, not to pursue the responsibility of the main body, or to break the existing power structure. Many factors contribute to this phenomenon, including the limit of existing interest expression channels, the digestion of village publicity, and the restrictions of habitus of activists. Because of these reasons above, the activism had just brought a little increase of consciousness of the rights of actors, produced not much village publicity, and was not able to promote the formation of rural society which could well benign interaction with the state.
