In January 2015, the General Secretary Xi Jinping visits investigated in Yunnan, for the current and future development of Yunnan, and clearly stated: Yunnan should take the initiative to serve and integrate in the national development strategy, to get out of its way of leapfrog development, and strive to become the demonstration area of ethnic solidarity and progress, the vanguard of ecological civilization construction, the facing South Asia’s and Southeast’s radiation center, and write good Yunnan’s chapter of Chinese dream. This is the general secretary Xi Jinping, standing on the national global height, combing with the situation of Yunnan Province, establishing new target and new position, giving a new mission for the development of Yunnan.In this paper, the General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed that the construction of Yunnan ethnic solidarity and progress demonstration area as a starting point, integrating into the content of ideological and political work to be studied. Because, Yunnan Province has plenty of peoples, the establishment of the construction area of ethnic solidarity progress has important theoretical and practical significance which promote the ethnic solidarity,strengthen economic development of minority area and enhance minority national identify and sense of belonging. The ideological and political work has an important strategic position in revolution and construction in our country,and plays an important function role.therefore, the construction of Yunnan ethnic solidarity and progress demonstration area is inseparable from the ideological and political work which strength in demonstration area, to help promote the construction of Yunnan ethic solidarity and progress demonstration area.Firstly,combined with the features and situation of Yunnan ethnic solidarity and progress demonstration area, the detailed analysis of the relative between the demonstration area and ideological and political work, described the status and role of ideological and political work in the construction of ethnic solidarity and progress demonstration area.
