The US’s foreign policy toward China has adjusted over time since the end of the Cold War,while the military strategy keeps relatively stable and consistent, that is to prevent China’s military force especially its maritime military force from challenging the US’s existence in Western Pacific and make China’s military growth under the control of the US to guard the US’s long-term interest in this region. Obviously, China has been the most powerful potential challenger to the US since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the financial crisis and two wars in Middle East weakened the US’s power, which makes the threat and challenge to the US more obvious. For the US, the rise of China is the rise of China’s capacity and power, especially its military force, to be more specific, it is China’s “Anti-Access/Area Denial” capacity. China’s military force, especially its overseas military dispatch capacity is making the foundation of China’s challenge to the US in this region.China is becoming one of the most crucial variable for the US’s decision making on the military strategy with the end of Afghanistan War and Iraq War. The US’s military strategy toward China is quite debatable since the emergence of the “Air-Sea Battle” concept in 2009 to the “Joint Concept for Access and Maneuver in the Global Commons(JAM-GC)” concept in 2015. We can conclude that the goal of its strategy is more accurate and obvious, new concepts emerge one after another and means are more diversified. The US’s military strategy toward China is entering the stage of actual combat, the concept of “Air-Sea Battle” has been examined and improved in the military exercise, and there is only one target-China. With the growth of China’s power and the expansion of China’s interests, the bilateral structural contradiction and strategic disagreement between China and the US will be worse off, so the US’s strategy toward China will be developed and added in the near future, China should pay close attention to it and react positively.
