Teacher-student relationship is the most important and basic relationship in theeducational field, it greatly affects the whole process of education. This study issupposed to discuss the primary school teacher-student relationship in the viewpointof social-exchange theory, that is, define the teacher-student exchange as a process ofexchange the resource they have. Chosen the teachers from primary school as thesubjects, on the basis of reviewing former researches and consulting, the theoreticalhypothesis on primary school teacher-student social exchange is put forward. Thenthe study designs a preliminary questionnaire on teacher-student social exchange ofprimary school after open-ended questionnaires, which is formed into thequestionnaire. And then255primary school teachers are investigated by using theformal questionnaire,390primary school students are investigated by using therevised student questionnaires of primary school teacher-student relationshipquestionnaire as well. According to it, we can measure the primary schoolteacher-student exchange relationship and investigate its status quo.Result:(1) The teacher-student social exchange relationship questionnaire have23items,and composed of five factors: active management, passive management, concern andcare, be willing to return and help and support. This questionnaire has a clear structureand favorable reliability and validity, can be used to be measured the quality ofprimary school teacher-student exchange relationship.(2)The quality of teacher-student exchange relationship in primary school isfavorable. Teacher-student exchange relationship in primary school teachers hassignificant differences on gender, marital status, main teacher, professional titles andseniority. Teacher-student exchange relationship in primary school students hassignificant differences on gender, grade, dwelling place and whether the students is aclass cadre or not. The quality of teacher-student social exchange relationship ishigher than male teachers to female teachers; married teachers are better thanunmarried teachers; the main teachers are better than the other teachers; the seniorteachers are better than other teachers; teachers of teaching experience in the5-10years interact with students are better than teachers of teaching experience in thefollowing five years and more than ten years. The quality of teacher-student social exchange relationship increased with grade, grade three is the best while grade six isthe worse; girls are better than boys; in the class, the class cadre are better thancommon student; urban students are better than rural students in the social exchangeprocess with teachers.(3)The teacher should be often communicate with upperclassman, pay attentionto the emotional exchange and be fair and impartial.
