New curriculum reform promotes students to participate actively in variousactivities, explore and research happily and practice diligently, which makes studentslearned the ability of searching and organizing various information or materials,absorbing new knowledge and experience, identifying questions and solving problems,even the collaboration capabilities with others. In the end, it enable the students learnthrough the whole life. In the ten years of the new curriculum reform, the status and roleof the general high school education are drawing more and more attention, which makesthe high school students’ learning situation gradually become a focus of study.This paper uses literature research, questionnaires, interviews and observationmethods that mainly from the high school students in Yan’an City. The questionnaireinvolves seven dimensions, featuring motivation, environment, time, behavior, resources,strategies and pressure of the high school students’ learning. The typical samplingmethod relates to three grades of four high schools in Baota District of Yan’an City.486valid questionnaires were recovered. Analysis of the current situation shows that thestatus of high school students is not optimistic: the high school students’ learningmotivation is extreme, the learning environment is hard, the learning time is relativelylong, the learning behavior is passive, the learning resource utilization is not effective,the learning strategies are not well understood and used and more learning pressure. Tosolve these problems, the author have an attribution analysis, then found some commonfactors: First, institutional factors, including the college entrance examination system, thepopularity of high school and college enrollment; Second, social factors, includingemployment situation, security situation, entertainment, social trends, etc.; Third, schoolfactors, including conditions for running schools and school management; Fourth, family factors, including family economic conditions and parental management education; Fifth,students own factors, including the their relationships, personalities, learning methodsand motivations. In accordance with the attribution analysis and relevant theoreticalguidance, the author try to offer some advices to improve the current situation of ordinaryhigh school students’ learning strategies: to reform the education system, in particular,the examination and enrollment system, to get help and support from community, toimprove school conditions and optimize school management, to stimulate and developstudents’ learning motivation, to guide students’ learning strategies, to guide students toexplore their potentials and make full use of family education.
