A Research On The Status Of Transition From Kindergarten To Primary School Activities

The transition from kindergarten to primary school is directly related to thestatus of students’ adaptation to primary school. At present, academic research for ithas focused on the kindergarten stage, while there are less studies of it on the primaryschool stage. Therefore, the study of it on the primary school stage has a theoreticaland practical significance. According to existing researches and field surveys,transition activities in primary school can be divided into five areas: buildingrelationships, working in partnership, social participation and responses to society,linking children’s early learning and prior knowledge with school, evaluating andrevising activities.With document retrieval, interviewing and questionnaire investigation, thisthesis intends to reveal the status of transition activities of primary school bydescribing and analyzing the above five aspects of transition activities and verifyingthat whether the five aspects of work can promote a good school adjustment of firstgrade students.96first grade teachers in five primary schools are chosen as the objects of thestudy in Changsha City. Through the survey we found that:1.At the present stage, activities of building relationships, linking children’searly learning and prior knowledge with school are well developed. Mean scores are4.04and3.77. While specific weaknesses exist in the activities of working inpartnership, social participation and responses to society and evaluating and revisingactivities. Mean scores are3.27,3.30and2.93.2.By regression analysis, there is a positive correlation between transitionactivities and adaptation to primary school. It proved that the five aspects of activitiescan promote a good adaptation to primary school of first grade students.Finally, we put forward constructive countermeasures to transition activities inprimary school.
