Nowadays, multimedia is the most attractive technology in the world. Its broadlyapplication in English class makes students a new model of study. At the same time, itmakes English class a great revolution. In order to increase students’ interest andperformance in study English, this article takes two Grade Eight classes of Yunxi Schoolas experimental subject. Yunxi School lies in Honggutan New District of Nanchang. Thepaper distributes two classes as experimental group and control group respectively andrandomly. For the sake of distinguish difference between these two classes, this paperusing multimedia teaching model in experimental group and traditional teaching model incontrol group. After that, let two groups do the same tests. These tests contain three parts.They are pre-test, post-test and questionnaire survey. At last, using SPSS statisticsanalyze the result of pre-test, post-test and questionnaire survey.According to statistics, students using multimedia teaching model have bigimprovement both in interest and performance. However, students using traditionalteaching model do not has obviously improvement. Such as in listening, vocabulary,reading and comprehensive performance, students in experimental group got higherscore than control group. According to questionnaire survey, students’ both inexperimental group and control group have interest in multimedia teaching model.Based on the above analysis, this paper argues that using multimedia in middleschool English class can not only enhance students’ comprehensive quality, but alsoincrease interest in English study. Compare with traditional teaching model, usingmultimedia in English class can bring graphic and sound to students vividly and flexibly.Meanwhile, multimedia teaching model build a great study environment for students andlet them thinking and studying actively. Therefore, we should promote and developmultimedia teaching in four ways as below. Firstly, strengthen students’ understanding ofmultimedia. Secondly, increase the attractive of courseware. Thirdly, improve thetechnical support in multimedia. Fourthly, increase financial support in multimedia.
