The music textbooks published by the People’s Music Publishing House have beenadopted for10years by all middle schools in Zhejiang province. While, during this period,various disadvantages came up. Thus in2012, new textbooks which modified the shortage ofthe old ones emerged as the times require through the questionnaires I did to teachers andstudents of six rural junior middle schools in Yinzhou District and the conducted interviews,the exchange with other music teachers, Starting from the basic theory and practice researchof music textbooks as well as the comparative analysis of two musical editions published bythe People’s Music Publishing House. I try to inquire into the effectively improvement ofthe textbooks in order to adapt to the rural junior middle school teaching practice so that theconstruction phase of music textbooks would be compatible with music education.Whichwould also play an active role in the music education reform and improvement of studentsboth mentally and physically, Provide some inspiration and suggestions for the constructiontogether with the study of music textbooks.This paper puts forward some feasible suggestions on increasing rural junior middleschool music teaching material applicability through taking two editions of music textbooksas the object of study, adopting the recent development of theory, Trying to make ainvestigation and do the in-depth analysis of the applicability of the textbooks via theanalysis of the characteristics of the rural junior middle school students and he new and theold teaching materials, Combined with my own teaching experience.This paper is divided into five parts. The first part describes the research background anits purpose along with the significance, research status at home and abroad as well as theresearch ideas and methods. The second part defines the core concepts, expounding thetheoretical foundation of the applicability of music textbooks. The third part makes acomparative analysis of new and old materials from two aspects of the structure and content.The fourth part finds out the factors in teaching which does not apply to the countryside junior middle school through questionnaire investigation and the Interview exchanges. The fifth partputs forward suggestions on improving teaching textbooks and junior high school musictextbook applicability.
