The ancient poetry being selected into the Chinese textbooks for primary school has along history. As the unique style of literature of Chinese nation, the ancient poetry has aunique artistic charm and rich cultural heritage, plays a decisive role in developingstudents’Chinese accomplishment of primary school and is valuable educational resourcein Chinese textbooks for primary school. Although there are a lot of researches about theChinese textbooks for primary school, but there are few researches on the selections of theancient poetry in Chinese textbooks for primary school. Therefore, this thesis bases onPEP Chinese textbooks for primary school, using the literature research method,comparative analysis method and other research methods to analyze the characteristics ofthe selections of the ancient poetry in PEP Chinese textbooks for primary school from twoaspects: selection and arrangement. I will give my own advices about the needs to beimproved of the selections of the ancient poetry in PEP Chinese textbooks for primaryschool. And I hope to make efforts to improve the level of the selections of the ancientpoetry in PEP Chinese textbooks for primary school.The introduction introduces the purpose and the meanings of the topic selection of thepaper, the present situation and development trend of the research both at home and abroad.It defines the following important concepts:”the ancient poetry”,”Chinesetextbook”,”selections”,”PEP”. It introduces the research methods of the essay.The first chapter uses forms to analyses the present situation of the selections of theancient poetry from PEP Chinese textbooks for primary school from the theme, genre, text,layout, and summers up the present situation of the the selections of the ancient poetryfrom PEP Chinese textbooks for primary school from the two major aspects: selection andarrangement. Selection: theme has increased and become difficult with the increasing ofthe period, pay attention to children’s life, the range points the dynasty of highachievement of poetry, both dynasties are selected, the genre is in accordance with primaryschool students’ cognitive, psychological development level; Arrangement: using "themeunit" and "special unit" two kinds of arrangement, beautifully illustrated, full text notes,poems and words are learned by the same time. The second chapter uses forms to compare and analyses the selections of the ancientpoetry from PEP and Su Jiao Chinese textbooks for primary school from the theme, genre,text, layout comparison, summarizes the selections’s own knack of the ancient poetry fromPEP Chinese textbooks for primary school. Selection: wide range of theme, range andgenre, embody the model, selections are in accordance with the level of cognitive andpsychological development of primary school students; Arrangement: follow the children’slearning rule and the study of ancient poetry, poems with theme of unit, various forms ofpractice, full notes. This chapter points out the needs to be improved of the selections ofthe ancient poetry from PEP Chinese textbooks for primary school from two aspects:selection and arrangement, Selection: the proportion of various types needs to be balanced,the range of selection needs to be expanded, the proportion of various types needs to bebalanced, the selections are not enough life; Arrangement: the richness of subject of unitneeds to be improved, the arrangement form should strengthen the diversity, practicedesign should be more flexible, diverse.The third chapter gives proposals about the needs to be improved about the selection ofthe ancient poetry from PEP Chinese textbooks for primary school from two aspects:selection and arrangement. Selection: expand the subject, expand the scope enrich thegenre, adhere to the dominant position of students, close to the children’s life; Arrangement:enrich unit theme, enrich text format, enhance the flexibility and diversity of practiceforms. Selections aspect emphasizes the importance of the students’ main position, close tochildren’s life, arrangement aspects emphasizes the importance of enriching textarrangement form of the ancient poetry, and this is the innovation of this paper.
