Since the21st century, higher vocational education in our countryhas entered a new stage of reform and development, the unprecedentedprosperity has emerged, and the great breakthrough has been seen in thequantity, size and the number of students. The healthy development ofhigher vocational students and the improvement of their comprehensivequality are not only the need of socialist spiritual civilization, but also theguarantee of socialist modernization construction. What’s more, aestheticeducation is an indispensable part for the higher vocational students’healthy growth. Aesthetic education can not only edify their sentiment,purify the mind, make students clearly distinguish the true, the good andbeautiful things, but also can improve their aesthetic judgment andcreativity, create more healthy personality and lofty spiritual realm,which finally lead to the realization of the comprehensive andharmonious development of their moral, intelligence, physical conditionsas well as other aspects.Due to the influence of the pattern of higher vocational educationand the social demand, higher vocational colleges are inclined to thecultivation of the skilled personnel, ignoring the cultivation of theiraesthetic quality, which results in the weak aesthetic idea of vocationalstudents. This is not conducive to the all-round and harmonious development of higher vocational students. Aesthetic as an important partof quality education is paid more attention to in the campus full ofcultural atmosphere, and has obtained certain achievements in itsdevelopment and application. However, the development of aestheticeducation in higher vocational colleges has not reached the goal weexpected and there are still many deficiencies.This study is based on the case study of light industry professionaltechnology institute of Guizhou. Through the analysis of the428validquestionnaires, the author has explored the main sticking point of theaesthetic education in higher vocational colleges, and put forward someconstructive suggestions which suit the remedy to the existing problems.
