As an important component of the teaching of higher vocational education, practice teaching has become an important approach to cultivate the students'application ability of professional technology and the ability of analyzing and solving problems. It is the key to achieve the objective of cultivating talents of higher vocational education and the key link of training the applied talents, and it is also an important sign by which differentiate vocational education from general education and the core indicator of measuring whether the higher vocational colleges have its own characteristic and level.The paper is mainly study the current situation,problems and countermeasures of practice teaching in higher vocational colleges in Hunan province, which is of great realistic significance. The paper consists of three parts.The first part mainly analyzes the status quo of practice teaching of higher vocational colleges in Hunan province in the basis of the statistical result of questionnaire, which reveals a lot of problems of practice teaching of higher vocational colleges in Hunan province, these problems contains antiquated ideas, insufficient input into training facilities, the single method of teaching, the lack of characteristics of teaching materials, more efforts are needed to promote the construction of teaching staff, the lack of the tight cooperation between schools and enterprises as well as the problems of management of practice teaching.The second part is to summarize the characteristics of practice teaching in higher vocational colleges in developed countries and its enlightenment to that of China, it was done by introducing the typical model of practice teaching of higher vocational colleges in developed countries and regions, such as:"dual system" in Germany, CBE in Canada, NVQ in British and TAFE in Australia.In the third part, some countermeasures are proposed for the problems of practice teaching of higher vocational colleges in Hunan province on the basis of successful experiences of practice reaching of higher vocational colleges in developed countries and regions. These countermeasures are:Firstly, we must raise the consciousness, change the teaching conception and build up the practice teaching view of "people-oriented"; Secondly, it is necessary for us to optimize the allocation of resources and improve the conditions of practice teaching; Thirdly, efforts are needed to reform the content of practice teaching and strengthen the construction of practice teaching materials; Fourthly, we have to pay great attention to raise the status of teachers of practice teaching and construct a double-quality teachers group; Fifthly, we should integrate the produce,teach and research together, giving full play to the training bases inside and outside school; Sixthly, we should also strengthen the management of practice teaching in order to ensure the quality of practice teaching.
