My Favorite School

Transition from kindergarten to primary school is the first major change in wholelife. It plays a crucial role in the child’s future development. The problems of transitionhave been in focus. But for a long time, adult’s voice is supremacy. The current researchon transition mostly from the perspective of adult, few people pay close attention to thechildren’s idea. What are their favorite school?What difficulties and anxiety in thetransition?Thinking on these issues helps to better promote transition work smoothly.Based on children’s perspective, this study uses the product analysis method,interview method and observation method. The children graduating in a publickindergarten in Lanzhou city and the students in two public elementary school inlanzhou city in the first grade as the research objects. We analysis these paintingspainted by the children for the theme of “my favorite school”on theredimensions:content,color and emotion,composition principles.And for some childrenand a first-year grade elementary school students has carried on the interview.Through the analysis of children’s paintings as well as the interview data, thisresearch study has found that from the picture content, building,student，the sun, thepole are the most commonly in children’s paintings.From the emotional and color,children like to use red, orange, yellow, etc, and lively,warm,bright color to expresstheir feelings.By the number of species from the use of color, use the number of11kinds of color accounted for the most.Depicting the school for children is a let theminterested and meaningful things.From the point of composition principle, thearrangement, centered, symmetry and grouping principle to express his intention.Basedon this, this study from three aspects has carried on the reflection: children’s demands ofschool buildings,the children’s worry and anxiety, and the expression of children. Andrelated suggestions are put forward:1. to establish a children’s favorite primary school,which are multicoloruredl and like a park;2. Set up reasonable expectations;3. Letchildren grow in expression.
