A Study On The Value Of China’s Traditional Shame Culture To The Current University Moral Education

The high-speed development of the society make frequent moral anomie problems have been increasingly serious. One of the most important reasons is shame desalination, namely, being irrespective of the credit which makes the moral main body gradually lose the value of the clear goal. So the construction of moral civilization has seemed more urgent than ever. The socialist sense of honor or disgrace’s coming up suggests that f socialist moral construction in our country will be further, at the same time also shows that we have fully recognized the important significance of the sense of shame in the process of moral construction.Shame culture as an important part of Chinese traditional culture, belongs to the category of traditional morality, and also is an important part of the modern moral system. After thousands of years of continuous accumulation, it still has strong vitality and important value today. Therefore, we should take Chinese traditional shame culture rationally, and find out its practical value to improve the level of the current university moral education by means of in-depth studies of moral education thoughts of the ancient sages.The content of this thesis can be divided into four parts, that is, the definition of "sense of shame" according to moral education theory and the development of Chinese traditional shame culture, the connotation of traditional shame culture and its relationship with moral education, the value of shame culture to the current university moral education and lastly the approaches to realizing the value of shame culture in university moral education. In the first part, using the definition of "sense of shame" as the entry point, the author introduces the meaning and the usage of shame at length and describes the definition of the sense of shame in the different fields, based on which the author clarify the historical development of Chinese traditional shame culture. In second part, the author generalizes the connotation of shame culture and its relationship with moral education by combing the historical evolution of the Chinese traditional shame culture. Taking the present situation of the current university moral education into consideration, the author analyzes the value of shame culture to perfecting the principles, content sand methods of current university moral education. At last, the practical approaches to realizing the great value of shame culture to university moral education are expounded in details.
