With the rapid development of information technologies, international cooperation and cultural communication becomes increasingly frequent. Under the background of different nations and social systems, more and more frequent interaction is the irreversible trend of the times. Foreign literary works play an important role in creating an awareness of world literature and multi-culture. Foreign literary works study shows the western literary tradition and the essence of different culture, which is favorable to expanding the students’ cultural vision, raising their literary attainment, aesthetic ability and critical thinking skills. Changchun version Chinese textbook of middle school, compiled by Mr. Zhang Yijian, has been widely comprehended and used since it was first published in Sep.2007. This textbook is based on traditional Chinese culture and connects with multi-culture. Also it reflects the concept of modern curriculum design.In middle school Chinese textbook Changchun version, Zhang Yijian has showed his Chinese educational concept. Zhang Yijian considers that Chinese education is the "Human" education, and Chinese learning is the basis of human survival and development. It consists of double meanings:For one thing, it can develop the students’ abilities and skills of listening, speaking, reading and learning by Chinese education. What’s more, it enhances the students’ cultivation, esthetic sentiment, spirituality and creativity, and let the students form the good individuality and personality. For another thing, with the healthy individuality, the students can learn better and assimilate the fine emotions and correct thoughts.In this article, we focus on foreign literary works in middle school Chinese textbook Changchun version. Through specific analysis into the selected works and the system of arrangement, we summarize the characters and advantage of the foreign literature works selecting and arranging system, and put forward some suggestions on the problems which we should pay attention in teaching process. We hope the students can learn foreign literature works more fully and efficiently. And meanwhile, we expect more attention and thoughts from the education experts and teachers, and let the foreign literature works make a bigger role in Chinese education of middle school. We strive hard to make foreign literature play a more important role in middle school Chinese education. By reading foreign literature, the students can understand the development of foreign literature and absorb advanced human culture. It also exerts a great influence on multi-culture learning, as well as spiritual and personality development.This paper consists of five parts. The first part summed up the history of foreign literature works edited into Chinese textbook. The process is rough and irreversible. The second part is the importance of foreign literature works study based on the demand of world diversified development, students’ character development and new curriculum standard. The third part shows the space-time distribution, authors and genre of the foreign literature works in middle school Chinese textbook Changchun version. The fourth part is the analysis on the achievements of the ways in selecting and arranging, including of moderate difficulty and flexible layout. The fifth part presents the further thinking of the teaching process for better understanding about the excellent foreign literature works, such as increasing background knowledge and extra-curricular reading, which has a positive significance of cultivating the students’ multi-cultural quality.
